?Ecosystem-Based Management of Atlantic Menhaden

Available: December 1, 2012

?Chesapeake Biological Laboratory is seeking a post-doctoral fellow for a new 2-year project to develop an ecosystem-based approach to the management of Atlantic menhaden.? The chosen candidate will conduct empirical analyses of existing data and develop fishery ecosystem models that will lead to the development of fishery reference points that consider potential ecosystem services provided by menhaden.? The post-doc would join a research team involving Drs. Houde, Miller and Secor at CBL.? The position requires demonstrated, strong quantitative skills in statistical analysis of fisheries data and in applying ecosystem models, preferably using Ecopath with Ecosim.? The post-doc is expected to interact with state and federal scientists and managers and other stakeholders.? It is expected that the post-doc will develop presentations and publications based on project results.

The position resides at the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory, situated on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay about 50 miles southeast of Washington DC.? A competitive salary and benefits package is available.
