FTSE 100 Group Risk Director

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the risk management framework of one of the world's largest and highly respected companies. The Business has undergone significant growth and change and now seeks a Group Risk Director who will report directly to the Head of Group Risk. You will significantly contribute to the continued shaping of the business risk management agenda and the evolution of an effective and efficient enterprise wide risk management system across the Group.

Specifically the purpose of the role is to:

Provide an enterprise wide view of the Group's risks to ensure the team has a detailed and current view of the most significant risks facing the Company. You will have a primary focus on specific risks as proposed by the Executive and agreed with the Board. This will require an in-depth understanding of these risks and the associated controls, contingencies and improvement action plans in the businesses and functions around the world.

  • Ensure a current view of the leading issues facing the Company as perceived by leading external thinkers and stakeholders. This will also include identifying the key enterprise wide risks through grouping, aggregation and modelled interdependency of risks facing the Group.
  • Deliver the capability programmes for the Group's risk management system to relevant stakeholders in the businesses and functions and work to continuously improve risk management processes across the Group (risk identification, evaluation, reporting). This will involve development and delivery of training programmes, face-to face sessions and facilitating workshops, etc.
  • Deliver risk analysis and group level reporting as required for internal and external purposes throughout the annual cycle of events for the Executive Team, Board and external reporting requirements.
  • Ensure that the Group level view of enterprise risk is used effectively in the key business processes e.g. strategy, resource and capital allocation, group business planning and M&A.
  • Provide an expert view of enterprise risk across the Group and advise on decisions in strategy, resource and business planning.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with a network of relevant external stakeholders.
  • Attend certain board and executive meetings.
  • Challenge the day-to-day risk management approaches, continuously improving the sequencing of risk reporting including the consistency and quality of risk reporting to the Board and Executive Committees and the integration of risk management into key business processes.

We are looking for:

  • Significant enterprise wide risk management and change management experience.
  • Strong data analytical and understanding skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Relationship builder, able to quickly build trust based (rather than transactional based) relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Rigorous delivery in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Able to understand and deliver to a risk appetite framework.
  • Ability to work towards common solutions and challenge group thinking with the courage to intervene.
  • Strong understanding of Corporate Governance.
  • Group level experience/ability to work at Group Leader level.
  • Significant global work experience.
  • Experience of managing a close knit team and using differing viewpoints to obtain insights and reach an optimal outcome.
  • A good degree and a willingness to embrace a 25% travel component.
